Travel Info Can any one suggest me a unique week end getaway within 100 Kms from Mumbai? Travel Tips The best option for you is to use the Weekend Getaway Search facility on HolidayIQ.com, where they provide weekend getaway ooptions from lots of Indian cities. The best part is that you can search from each city by distance. So for instance, if you only want to travel around 100 kilometres from Mumbai, you can find a list of weekend options within 100 kms. Cool stuff. Click on the link below to start using it: http://www.holidayiq.com/weekend.php?cit... Source(s): http://www.holidayiq.com/weekend.php?cit... Other Travel Tips Just saw pictures of this place called Ratangad. beautiful. if you like treks. consider this place. You have to take a bus from Igatpuri (which you can reach via train). Here is a link with more information. http://deepabhi.tripod.com/ratangad.html... Please specify : seaside or forts or sanctuaries or forests or hillstations? If you would like to be nearer sea : you can visit Arnala (accessible from Virar on Western Railway, has got food and accomodation options- Cbeach Resorts[www.cbeachresort.com] provides quality.) or Kelve ( accessible from Kelve Road and/or Palghar station on Western Railway. On other side you can visit Alibaug accessible by boat ride from Gateway of India. Several options in and around Alibaug include Akshi beach, Sasawane beach, Kihim beach and you can even go till Murud-Janjira beach. For forts or if you are interested in treks et al visit Raigad (near Mahad), Korlai fort near Revdanda(Alibaug) but food and accomodation is the big problem. You can goto Igatpuri or Lonavala or Matheran, if you need to be at a hill station. Happy weekend. just me go to matheran, or lonavla/khandala. How about the Konkan coast in Southern Maharashtra. A overnight train (should take about 10 hours I reckon) get down at Ratnagiri, 40 Kms and your at Ganpatipul, nice beach, temple. Continue down with a local passenger to Sawantwadi Road (about 4 hours) and explore the Malvan coast the beach resort at Tarkali, old sea forts and temples!! Malvan cuisine is I believe quite special!! From here you can bus it up to the Hill station of Amboli for a cooler greener atmosphere, do some jungle walking or catch the views of the coast! To get back just catch the bus or taxi back to Sawantwadi Road and the train back to Mumbai. What with temples, coastline, beaches, little fishing villages, a bit of culture and a walk in the hills along the river, this is I think a nice little mini tour out of Mumbai!! And it' doesn't involve too much traveling!! And to wet your appetite malvan coast (http://www.rediff.com/travel/1999/jan/29... Ganpatipule (http://www.journeymart.com/dexplorer/asi...
