i would rate kovalam beach in kerala as the best. With those backwaters, you can just sit in the water with out getting washed away. It is realatively calm compared to beaches in vizag and chennai. Rishikonda beach in vizag is also a good place for a quite holiday. Tamilnadu and Goa's beaches were once clean but not anymore and are crowded. The best in India is Goa and Juhu beach (Mumbai)

Some of the other good ones are ganpatiphule, chaupati, etc.
