What is the form called that you fill out before you land in India? |
Travel Info I am taking about that form that you receive on the plane! Travel Tips This is called the dis embarkation form. This is part of the immigration formalities required to be concluded for your visit to the country,and contains the personal and visa details which is to be filled up by you in addition to the flight details.The form is to be submitted at the immigration counter where your entry to the country shall be stamped in the passport. Others Landing Card, I think. basically u fill out the dis embarkaation card when u leave the country and embarkation card when u return.. its a kind of log abt ppl leaving the country.. There are two cards that one needs to fill out upon landing in India. First is the disembarkation/embarkation card. The purpose of this card is to establish the reason for your visit, the planned duration of your stay and the days of your entry and planned day of your exit. This card has two parts. One part will be collected at the airport upon landing and the other part, stamped by customs is to be retained. You will need to show this part upon leaving India. Second is the customs card. The purpose of this card is for the passenger to declare what he/she is bringing into the country and specifically to determine if a) something carried on board is not allowed in country or b) something carried on board is a dutiable item. If you are carrying a dutiable item, you will pay appropriate duties as required by the laws of the government of India. They will collect this card upon landing. In the past, most electronics and precious metal had high duties on them. I remember that my mom paid exorbitant amount of duties to import a microwave. (she shipped it from US) This was the time when microwaves were not widely available in India.Now duties on most electronics are eliminated and a reasonable amount of jewellery is also allowed. I fly to India often. It call embarkment form or custom/immigeration form. You have to fill it for two reason one is they will have log for you to arrive in india also you will declare where you will be during your holiday/stay in india, so in case if something happen for eg natural disaster or riot they can pin point where to find you if you happen to be NRI or citizen of differen country. Second reason is to watch out for people flooding country with goods or balck money so when you enter you have choice to declare if you are carrying more than 10,000USD or any valuable elctronic or gold.
