Is Munich better than Berlin?

I went to Berlin in August and liked it very much, just wondering is it more worth it to go to Munich?

They are really very different. Berlin is a very large, almost impersonal (anonymous) city, whereas Munich is a large village. The exciting and almost electric night life of Berlin will be missing in Munich. Also, the diversified culture and hodge-podge of Berliners is no where to be found in Munich. Munich is simply very Bavarian and the people are proud of this. Even the folks that are from other parts of Germany who move to Munich find themselves become Bavarian, whereas Berliners are proud to be different.

The Berliner mentality is very "in your face" - they don't mean any harm. Muenchener are more reserved, but also very gracious.

The other sides of cities (culture, architecture, food, surrounding area) must be experienced to see if one prefers x over y.

I recommend visiting Munich in the winter months, and then you can take a drive into Austria (2-3 hour drive and you're in one of 10-15 main ski areas) for some skiing, if that's your bag. But watch out for german holidays, where prices skyrocket. Source(s): Lived in both cities....

I'm from Munich, so off course I say Munich is better than Berlin :-)

Both cities are very different and I think it's worth visiting both of them. If you've already been to Berlin, then Munich should be the next German city on your list. It's definitely worth visiting and you'll see for yourself which one you like better.

Berlin is cool but they are remodeling the place so I would suggest Munich, but an also really cool place is Foehr an island off the coast of Germany, Hamburg or Miehlen
