It should around 400 kilometers. And it takes about 8 / 9 hours to get to Kathmandu from Gorakhpur. you can add and extra one hour for the immigration formalities in the border Nepal / India.

Not more than 400 KM. best way will be to travel from Gorakhpur to Butwal by jeep (should not cost more than IRs. 200) and then from Butwal to Kathmandu by bus (around IRs. 400). Hope this helps u to some extend.
