People do things like climbing mountains, sky diving and surfing etc. for adventure and the thrill of it. Doing the biggest, fastest, highest of these all has achievement also attached to it.

For the thrill and challenge, probably one out every million could accomplish such a hard task. It takes years of training before u go and do something like that
Because stupidity is a human trait
There's only one good reason for climbing any mountain...................... because it's THERE!!!
girl....lol they do it for the fun and happy feeling of it... for goals, adventure, and pure excitment. i want to climb mount mckinly in Alaska for that reason. its just a good feeling :). and a good adventure.

Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to climb Everest, answered that question over 50 years ago: "Because it is there".
Why people do most other challenging things: to push the edge of what the human body can do in adverse conditions. Whether it be climb Mount Everest, or walk across the North Pole, or sky dive, some people challenge their bodies to face the elements in the most extreme conditions, and live off that thrill.
