Travel Info Is a 4 hr layover in AMS airport long enough to see Amsterdam? Travel Tips You can take the train, will take you in 15 minutes to Amsterdam. You can walk out of the station, see Amsterdam and then hurry back for your flight. Others No it is not, because the airport is not close to downtown Amsterdam. You need a whole day or more to see everything in Amsterdam. No it is not. Not because of the airport is too far away (about 15 minutes by train - the station is in the main hall of the airport, trains about every ten minutes), but because there is too much to see. - old art: van Gogh, Rembrandt and a lot of other 17th century painters - modern art: famous painting: "who's afrain of red yellow & blue?" - recent history: Anne Frank's house - night life: red light district - also great if you're not planning to visit a hooker I live in AMS. Well, you could have your picture taken at the Dam Square (if you take a train to Central Station), but then you have to hurry back to the station to get back to the airport........ native its fine to go see some of the city its not that far from the airport...im from there...so i should know ofcourse there is a lot to see but if you stick to areas around the trainsation wich is practicly in the city center you can go and have some fun...see the red light district get a snack and hop back on the train...beats waiting at the airport.. |
