What are the culture like in....? |
Travel Info what is the dutch culture like in Gelderland because that is where most of my family is from! Travel Tips Gelderland is nearly the largest province in the middle and east of the Netherlands and it has 3 parts: "The Veluwe", mostly woods, heather fields and meadows with cows. "The Betuwe", between the rivers Rhine, Waal and Maas, is the land of the fruit orchards. And "the Achterhoek", the part that lies next to the German border. The Achterhoek has many beautiful and peaceful landscapes with lots of farmhouses. Arnhem is the capital of Gelderland Other cities are: Nijmegen, Doetinchem, Zutphen, Deventer. I myself fortunately live in Gelderland. I like it here! Wanna know more? Mail me. Some of my family live in USA, but where? I dunno! :-)) Others Maybe you can get an idea on http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/d... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/gelderland... http://www.gelderland.nl/smartsite.shtml... Gelderland is mainly agricultural. They grow lots of fruit there. Religion is protestant. The dutch bible belt (gereformeerde kerk) runs through Gelderland but that is only a part of it. In that part women wear black dresses and stockings and on Sunday villages are very quiet. Three major European rivers run through Gelderland, which made traveling difficult in the past. |
