Travel Info Is Smeerenburg easily accessible to tourists? Travel Tips While Smeerenburg was a settlement of Dutch whalers, it's actually located in Norway, close to the North Pole. I doubt it's very easily accessible, but perhaps you can try the Norwegian tourist office and find out more? Just curious, why are you interested in such a place? Other Travel Tips I believe that "Smeerburg" is the nickname of the old city Doesburg in the province Gelderland, but I am not quite sure. Doesburg is a very nice old Hanze city with many old medieval houses and fortifications. Yes many tourists visit this lovely city. It's accessible by highway. This is in Norway not in the Netherlands, but ask to the tourist (Norsk) office they will gladly help you. |
