What does "Wazig" mean in Dutch or in europe? |
Travel Info Someone i'm interested in (he's dutch I believe) has the word WAZIG on his car license plate. I looked it up online and it translated as vapourous, some dutch people have said it meant "Hazy" or "Blurry"... And then one website said it was slang for being "stoned" or "high on drugs". I want to know what it means because i'm not about to get involved with a guy who does drugs. Travel Tips All of the aforementioned ideas are indeed correct. But, it is also meant as an expression, with varying meanings. Unclear (vague) is one. Sleepy is another. Stupid (or stoned, or drunk) is another. Hazy can be used as well. Blurry less likely - but not impossible. It all depends on who you talk to, in what circumstances and about what. In this case, his license plate could be a joke - claiming he is "unsure" or he thinks the place he lives in is confusing. Others I think it does mean Hazy. However he may mean 'hazy' in a way like feeling hazy from drugs. Not sure, you'll have to determine what type of personality he has and who he is by getting to know him perhaps. Good Luck! It does mean blurry, hazy or out of focus. Like when someone is nearsighted and they are not wearing their glasses, they see "wazig". It could be slang for being high on marijuana in some Dutch cities or regions, but I honestly never came across wazig being used in that sense. Best thing is to simply ask him what that word means and also if he uses anything. Dutch are raised to be straightforward and you don't have to beat around the bush with them. Just ask him and he'll give you a straight answer. |
