Does anyone live in amsterdam? |
Travel Info can you tell me what it's like? what are the laws there? Travel Tips I think (dutchman born and living in The Hague) that Amsterdam is an overpriced tourist trap... True, they have a lot of nightlife... But since Holland is so small that you could visit all 4 major cities in one night and still have time to use the bathroom there's no real reason for living IN Amsterdam... You could live anywhere in Holland and always be less than an hour away from Amsterdam City center (if you have a car, if you live in a remote area and have to use public transportation it might be a bit longer)... Anyway... As far as atmosphere and such, I guess of all the US states The Netherlands is most like California... Although I got a lot of Dutch vibes in Boston too... It's very very liberal here... Our right wing kind of ends where your left wing begins (not really, but almost) Also, this has been changing and Holland has been getting a lot more conservative lately... Laws here are pretty much the same as in the States, our punishment is a lot less severe though... Major differences are our drug and firearms laws... or in other words, it's extremely hard to get in trouble for using drugs (as long as you're not driving or making a nuisance) but getting caught carrying a firearm will get you busted big time! Others I do. I love it here. It's a beautiful city with it's canals and there's always something to do, it's a vivid city! The laws are constitutional so they don't just apply to Amsterdam but the Netherlands as a whole. You need to be more specific in your question about the laws, what do you want to know? I'm a law student so I can tell you more if I know what you're looking for... Living in Amsterdam, lawstudent. lots of people live there A very expensive city. no i live in america |
