Do i need medical insurance to go to the netherlands?

Travel Info
i will be going to the netherlands for 87 days to visit my aunt and im a US citizen so i dont need a visa. so do i need to have a medical insurance to ENTER the netherlands?

Travel Tips
You don't need medical insurance to ENTER the country. It is recommended, because if anything happens, you need to pay for the costs immediately.
I am travel agent and I recommend anyone who's traveling, no matter what the destination is to get health insurance.
Others
not to enter,,, but if ;you get sick or need hospital care then as a foreigner i would expect that you do not "eat from the trough" and pay your own bills.
It麓s better but you don't need it
No You don't need the Health Insurance to enter the country.
I believe as American you cover with Insurance, right?
But I sugges - it because you will travel for 87 days, long enough - jus ttake a travel insurance - not expensive but handy!
A citizen of the US can enter the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days stay for a half-year period. Hence, you'll not need a visa and the requirement to take a travel insurance will automatically be waived.

However, while traveling anywhere, it is always advisable to carry a travel insurance because the cost of medical treatment or repatriation of mortal remains or even expenses involved in paying for lost passports/ baggage can be crippling- if you are not insured. More so in the EU where the exchange rates of the Euro is more pricey than the US$.

Since your stay is for 87 days- which borders on the maximum visa-free limit of 90 days, suggest you take a travel insurance that covers both- medical expenses and theft as well as flight delays. Check with your local insurance provider whether your US medical policy extends the cover while abroad. In some cases, the immigration officer processing your entry into the Netherlands can insist on a visa and travel insurance, since your stay is nearly 90 days. Suggest you also check with the nearest Netherlands diplomatic mission.
go for the insurance coz it's not cheap to get sick here.
americans dont....
they r famous...... :)))
