What is the best way to travel from Spain to Amsterdam?

I will be studying in Valencia, Spain, this summer and I was wondering what the best (and cheapest) way to travel to Amsterdam for the weekend is. Thanks

The train is cheap, but you'll need more than a weekend just to get back and forth. A bus might even be cheaper, however that has the same problem (it's about 1000 miles).
