Where can I find info on cycling roads in the Netherlands? |
Travel Info I plan to make a cycling trip from Amsterdam to Brussels at the end of June. I've heard that there are alot of cycling roads in the Netherlands but I didn't find any good map. Could you advise me a website? Travel Tips This website will create a route for bicycling: http://planner.holland.com/fietsroutes/c... It's only for the Netherlands (and in Dutch), enter Amsterdam for beginpunt (starting point) and Turnhout for Eindpunt (end point) and then click on "Bereken de routes" near the bottom. (Turnhout is just over the border in Belgium) Then on top you'll see something like "Er zijn 50 routes gevonden", click on that and it will show you several routes. Click on one and click on "routebeschrijving". I don't know how easy to follow that is without knowing dutch, however you should find the town names in the list on the road signs for bicycles (yes, there are bicycle road signs, they are white with red wording). You can buy maps here: http://www.fietsvakantiewinkel.nl/2www/f... Others Hope this helps: http://www.traillink.com/tl_active_pages... You can also check out user created routes at: Routeslip http://www.routeslip.com/discover/nether... Bikely http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/country/... These have distance and elevation information. Some also have step by step directions. Good luck! maybe some helpfully sites (in English) Most sites have a contact address so you can mail them first. Isn't their a good specialized travelbook shop in your country ? http://www.european-bicycles.com/... http://www.fietsplatform.nl/english.asp... This site shows Long distance tracks called LF. Their are signs on the track that Will show you the way. LF2 is Between Amsterdam and Brussels. It Will not go the fastest way, but the nicest way for bicycles. It's handy to have also a map with the LF route on it in case you Miss a sign and want to find the LF route again. Maps are easy to buy. Most good bookshops, anwb shops and a lot of tourist info shops have them or can tell you were to buy them. Make sure you get a bicycle map. Every sign that shows you were places are on the road has a number, so try to find a map that has those numbers on it, than it's easy to find your way. http://www.cartostudio.nl/ fiets/ http://www.opdefiets.net/ fietsgidsen/ http://www.manymaps.com/ (sorry, some names are to long for yahoo, just copy them) Enjoy your trip and don't forget your rain coat. It can be beautiful sunny wheather in June but also rainy (and cold) days. |
