What are the major occupation in the Netherlands?

Travel Tips
The Central Bureau for Statistics recently issued figures for the year 2006.

Agriculture 194.000
Industry 1.471.000
Services (commercial) 2.725.000
Services (non-commercial) 2.428.000
Unknown 256.000

Largest sub-groups:
470.000 working in Building
562.000 working in Retail
534.000 working for Government
510.000 working in Education
1.101.000 working in Healthcare

So mainly office workers. The Dutch don't manufacture much these days. Looking at these figures you'd say all we do is get ourselves a house, then go shopping, pay taxes, go to school and get sick :-(

*Edit: Note to "M": The Netherlands no longer build planes, less ships, textile industry is gone. So over time there is definitely a decrease in Industry and a shift towards Services. Source(s): www.cbs.nl
