Travel Info I have to wait for 8 hours at Schiphol. Can you tell me how I can spare my time IN the airport for 8 hours.? Travel Tips You're lucky: Schiphol Airport is one of the best airports in the world. It's very light, modern and has a pleasant atmosphere. Of course it's tedious to wait but there are definitely worse airports to spend eight hours in. There are excellent bookstores with a great supply of international press, so you could buy up-to-date newspapers, books or magazines. There's a casino if you like gambling. Like someone said you can get a chair massage. There are organized tours to Amsterdam or the windmills/tulip fields especially aimed at passengers in transit. There are very good restaurants, cosy pubs with good beer but also fastfood things like MacDonalds. All over the airport there are luxurious pullman chairs to have a nap in. The views of the runway are amazing :-) There are television screens everywhere where you can watch international tv for free. And as mentioned before the shopping centers at this airport are top of the bill. If you are able to leave the airport and get the train somewhere, and for some reason you don't fancy going to Amsterdam, go to Leiden (15 min by train to the South, trains go 6 times an hour), a beautiful medieval college town that is a bit less overwhelming than our capital city. Source(s): Worked at Schiphol International Airport. Other Travel Tips Been there. Disgusting. I can imagine you didn't have to do anything to get stuck in that situation. Well it never hurts to sleep, you could listen to an ipod or music player, play with an electronics, watch planes, walkaround, masterbate (LOL JK)....use a notebook laptop, draw what you see, play in bathrooms, scare people by staring at them seriously and saying "dont get on the flight!" n walk away...many things man think outside the box, hope that helps l8trz SHOPPING!!!!! Sorry that you are in that situation, try to sleep, or talk to people in the same situation or others, if there are any restaurants open, take a beer or coffee or what you like. See the airport around. My suggestion is try to sleep, you will be very tired when you get to your destination or perhaps you can sleep on the air plane. Don麓t they have magazines there, read if your麓re feeling up to it. There are many of us out here who think of you and wish you all the best You can take the train from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station, which is about 30 minutes, there are canal boats right in front of the station. Take a ride on one of those, have lunch and you'll have plenty of time to get back. In case you're not allowed in the country, you can gamble your life savings away at the airport casinos. There is a hotel in the main terminal where you can sleep in comfort without having to enter the country, there is an art exibition going on, you can walk laps from one end to another (30-35min), you can get a massage, there is plenty to do, you won't be bored. |
