Is it possible to get a train from charleroi airport in Brussels to Amsterdam? |
Travel Info its cheaper to fly to brussels than amsterdam, were going to amsterdam for a weekend, its actually 鈧?33 cheaper Travel Tips Yes, you can reach Amsterdam from Charleroi. I am not sure if it is Sud or Ouest station - but the total travel time will be about 4 hours 15 minutes. You will need to change trains at least once on that trip at Brussels station. As an alternative - you could check if you can go to Brussels Nord station, and then take the Eurolines Bus to Amsterdam. The train part is about 1 hour, the bus is about 3.5 hours, so slightly longer - but MUCH cheaper than by train. As one other user said, check if you can get a flight to Rotterdam Airport, as that is also used by budget carriers, and will get you closer to Amsterdam while still being relatively cheap. Then travel to Amsterdam is easy, as there are direct trains between these cities. Takes about 1 hour trip from Rotterdam Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal station - and will cost you EUR 12.70 one way trip. (about US$ 18) Others http://www.charleroi-airport.com/bsca/si... this is a link to the bus service, train , airport guide it will sort you out for your train journeys. I'm off to gent but flying to charleroi. enjoy your weekend. no no no hell yeah i would do it, I live in holland and the train ride is only about three hours and it's a nice ride, you might wanna look into a weekend roundtrip, not sure how long you be staying in amsterdam else get a one way ticket and again at amsterdam when going back. but you can also look into flying into Eindhoven airport or Rotterdam airport, those are in holland and are usually very very cheap to fly out from and into, i have friends who do it all the time, but it depends on where you comming from, not sure if flights from the US fly in there, but they sure do from england and it's very very cheap. good luck and enjoy your stay Rebecca, Charleroi Airport is not in Brussels but in Charleroi, which is a smaller city 50 kms south of Brussels. Only budget airlines fly there, and not many, so it remains a very small airport a bit in the middle of nowhere. You will have to take a bus or taxi to the train station of Charleroi, and from there a train to Brussels (doesn't matter South, Central or North). There is a reason why flights to that airport are cheaper.... Enjoy your trip ! As noted, just over 4 hours. You change in Brussels Midi to the high speed Thalys train to Amsterdam. That train requires a reservation. A very good online source of schedules and routes for all of Europe is the online site of the German national railroad, located at www.bahn.de From Charleroi to Brussels Midi takes app. 45 minutes and the forward journey to Amsterdam 2h 30 to 3h 15m depending on the class of train. Remember if you are travelling on a Friday afternoon trains can be very busy. The SNCB site should be able to give fare information as well as times of trains. |
