Places to visit in the Netherlands?

Travel Info
I have a business meeting in Rotterdam on Tuesday and I've arranged to fly out on Saturday (arriving at Rotterdam airport mid-morning) so that I can see some of the country while I'm there.

I've been to Rotterdam before, and Amsterdam (but not for years) and a lovely little place called Delft.

Where else can I go, and what should I see? If I can't think of anywhere else I'll go to Amsterdam, but there must be other places - places that maybe I wouldn't otherwise make a special trip just to see.

I will be using public transport, and wherever I end up at the end of each day needs to be somewhere where I will be able to find a cheap-ish hotel easily. I need to be back in Rotterdam late afternoon on Monday.

I like stuff like castles, historic towns, countryside/woodland walks, but also happy to sit and soak up the atmosphere in some little town square.

(Also, if you live in NL, what's the weather forecast for this weekend?)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Travel Tips
I lived in Amsterdam next to the schepvaart museum...the ship museum. my favorite places to visit are vondel park, museum isle, rotterdam's bridge, the large skate park in the city center...try taking the train from amsterdam to Haarlem get off at the last stop in Haarlem and walk to the beach it is most beautiful. or visit zeeland (sealand), in the very southern tip of the Netherlands, I travelled there by train, then by bus, get off and go spulunking in your clogs, there's even an old outlook that overlooks the entire town.

den haag and utretch are ok but i recommend taking the train east...to Enschede...its an older town, quiet but there are beautiful country gardens and parks that are tranquil. i loved it there. oh, and visit Gronigen...the northern most tip of the country, the tide and ebbs flow.

good luck.

you can also visit den haag...as a city..

also there are some little fisher towns such as marken and volendam...maastricht is another choice..
Den Haag (not sure of spelling, but it's The Hague in English) is not far from Rotterdam. A couple of train stops or two and it is pretty nice.
Try the 'Nether Region' !
Den Haag (big city), beach in Scheveningen (next to Den Haag), beach in Hoek van Holland. visit the movable dam in Rotterdam. I am not sure where is exactly is but you can probably get some information when you are there.
Maybe you would like to visit the Delta Works in Zeeland.Very interesting and educational.
ok, well, I am dutch and i live just outside a big city called Utrecht, pretty nice town but not too much going on really, DenHaag is really nice, parlement resides there and a trolly ride from it is Scheveningen, a very nice beach resort, i would spend my time there if i were you really, this weekend is a really hot one here, hot and sticky but with thunderstorms every now and than to cool it off a little, but it will stay like this during the weekend so you should be ok with some flannel slacks and slippers to wonder around in. I might be going to Scheveningen this sunday so who knows, we might bump into each other without even knowing it hahaha

enjoy your bussiness trip
