Travel Info Any experiences with hostels in the Netherlands? Travel Tips Yes, my husband went to Kabul hostel in Amsterdam and they are horrible. People were using drugs inside and his bed had bedbugs ( even worse when you have a big trip behind you. The once I would recommend are the stayokay. See the link below. I stayed at them and they are clean, reasonably priced and have good food too. In Amsterdam there is also one called the Shelter, I think they have a curfew, but they are good too, see website link below as well. And they were all fine, except that one where they cut off my fingers and blow-torched my eyeball out...oh no wait, that was a movie I saw. Yes, stay at the Hans Brinker they have reasonable rates, they give away free city maps, close to all the major sites, cafeteria and community area, no curfew!!!. I even sat on the stoop and smoked a joint one night no one bothered me. I really liked it but remember its a hostel, lock up your stuff, don't be paranoid but you don't know who you're bunking with. The rooms are small but if you're staying at a hostel you're not planning on being there very often, just sleeping. Good luck and don't forget to stop by the Anne Frank Huis, Rijksmuseum and the van gogh, they are must see's. if you mind the smokes and a rowdy bit, you should avoid hostels altogether. Get some decent budget hotels or b&b in Amsterdam. i stayed at the bulldog hostel last summer and it was cool. i mean, if you plan on staying in your room all day there isn't much to do in the room. but as far as being clean and just a place to rest my head at nite, it was all good. have fun.. |
