Can someone tell me about the food in Holland?

Travel Info
We'll be enjoying some of the restaurants but will also be cooking on the houseboat we've rented so, will enjoy shopping in local markets.
Just wondering how different food is than that in the US.
Thanks!

the breads are different i think, we eat lots of bread, we start our day with it and for lunch we have sandwiches. at night a traditional dutch meal we cook is just potatoes, vegies and some meat but we have so many cultures here we are used to cook all kinds of food . you will find stuff you already know in our super markets. dairy section our milk are in blue cartons, dark blue is whole milk, lighter is 20% and the very light one is skim the red one is butter milk, the green ones are yogurt, with that we also have dark green more fatty and light green is less fatty.

you will notice a lot of sandwich meats cause we like to eat bread, also sweets to put on our breads like chocolate sprinkles and chocolate paste , give it a try, it's pretty good on white bread and some like to eat the sprinkles on top of some peanutbutter sorta like a reesespeaces sandwich hahaha

and yes, like in pulp fiction, we use mayonaise on our fries, it;s not like yours, it's really good, you should try it,go to a snack bar and order fries with mayo. at mc donalds we even have our own special mayo, they try to make itlike it's american mayo but americans never heard of it, but that mayo is really good.

and ofcourse we have lots of cheeze, try them all hahahaha
and the hearing, you must try that, do as we dutch do, pick it up by it's tail , use some unions with it or some pickles and let it slide in, soooooooooooooooooooo good.

ok, enough, my mouth is watering here.
enjoy your stay and just explore, i am sure you be fine.

Good Luck. Enjoy your trip !
on-line search.
You will most likely find the same food as in the US... Did you know that the dutch invented the pommes strips? Anyway I think you will be in for some nice surprises! Expect to see alot off people eating slices of bread with butter and cheese on it, drinking milk on the side... Enjoy!
There's no typical dish of NL, they have famous cheese very similar to burger cheese but more saltier. They eat tones of french fries in different shapes (smileys etc) and with different sauces. And also you may taste Turkish Doner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/doner... as there are many Turkish ppl in NL.
