Doesn't old Stockholm look like Amsterdam? |
Travel Info What type of architecture is that? I noticed it also in Belgium, Denmark. Stockholm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/image:kaffe... Amsterdam http://stevefazzio.com/images/holland/am... Travel Tips There's definitely similarities between the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland) and the low countries (Netherlands, Belgium)... For one, the languages are very similar, except for Finnish which, strangely enough is much like Hungarian... Another similarity is the lenght of the people, often with blond hair... A major difference is that the scandinavian countries use a lot more wood in their architecture where the low countries use a lot of brick. Scandinavians also like to paint their buildings, often red... The Dutch don't really do that, sometimes they paint them white... In belgium however they're many different colors again... Back in the old days, after the vikings, there was a lot of trade between these countries, that is probably part of the reason... The stepped roofs are definitely something that stands out... But in the pictures you linked to you can clearly see that the Dutch ones have no paint and are bare brick, where the Swedish ones are painted shades of red... Others Yes it does look simular doesn't it? But I think that Stockholm is much cleaner and prettier. Amsterdam is little bit darker and filthier. Plus it has a nasty atmosphere, at least that what I think. I visited both cities. |
