What do people mean by..? |
Travel Info "You can do anything in Amsterdam." Travel Tips Well i've been to Amsterdam and for all i know, the prostitution there is legal (they even have to pay tax) and so is marijuana and hash. But as for the drugs, it is only legal if you own it in a small amount and for personal use. It is even legal for a Coffe shops/Coffee house to sell this kind of drugs for customer and anything beyond that, meaning import and export out of the country is therefore consider illegal. Others it means that as long as you have the money you can do almost anything. Prostitution is legal, marijuana is legal as long as you don't carry too much and your not really supposed to smoke on the streets but the locals do. If you don't mind breaking the law you can really do anything - there was a case a year ago of child prostitution so there are no boundries. In response to RebNZ; Let me make this perfectly clear! Child prostitution is 100% illegal in The Netherlands and is definitely NOT something that is accepted or tolerated by the people or the authorities. If people say you can do anything in Amsterdam they are definitely NOT talking about child prostitution, and if they are they are very wrong. It means, there's something for everyone, from history buffs to party animals. Peadophiles and criminals can enjoy Amsterdam as well, but behind jail bars. lol. |
