Travel Info Been there? Business or Pleasure? Travel Tips I live here and that started when I was a student. I like Amsterdam a lot. Amsterdam is one of the smallest real metropoles. It has an international air, but is quite small with 700.000 inhabitants. The canals are superb and make Amsterdam the Venice of the north. The Van Gogh and Stedelijk are good museums. It still is a hippie-like city in summer in the Vondelpark and with a liberal view on soft drugs. It has the problems of a metropole with use of hard drugs and (for some it is okay, some not:) the red light district. But as a metropole it has a lot to offer to different kinds of people. Many people feel at home when they visit Amsterdam. The Dutch are lovely, it has brilliant museums, great art galleries and good public transport. The thing I don't like is the Red Light district - it's seedy - but it's only a small part of Amsterdam and you don't have to go there. Husband and mates went for pleasure! ...which i hope they didn't get to much of...... lol |
