Expected accommodation prices for flat in Leiden or Den Haag?

Travel Info
I'm emmigrating to the Netherlands in December. What would it cost to rent an unfurnished, 2-bedroom flat in Leiden (reasonably central, but not necessarily dead-centre). I've been to Leiden before, but at that time, didn't know I'd be emmigrating there.

Travel Tips
It's been a while since I looked for rental places in Leiden, but it was hard then, and I ended up buying instead. Since then prices have increased quite a bit so buying isn't as good as it was then (and probably not something you want to do right away when you just immigrated).

For rental places check out this site: http://www.funda.nl/woningaanbod/huur/de...

Fill in "Leiden" (or "Den Haag") in Locatie and you'll find rental places. Most have descriptions in English and they all have prices.

Going to a housing corporation usually requires a considerable amount of time (meaning years in Leiden center) on a waiting list, so that doesn't seem to be a viable option for you.

You can rent three ways, from a private person, from a commercial company and from a housing corporation...

From a private person is difficult... It's not easy to find someone who is of good will and has a nice place for a reasonable price... Renting from a private person who turns out to be not so nice can mean a lot of trouble...

Renting from a commercial company or agency is very expensive... I strongly recommend against it, based on personal experience... If you really can't find anything and need something for a short period, this is always an option though, but expect to pay a lot for not much. directwonen.nl is a big one that has a reasonable reputation, I think... Prices for anything reasonable from at least 鈧?00,-/鈧?00,- a month though, I think, although their website seems to offer some cheaper ones.... http://www.directwonen.nl/en/default-2.a...

Renting from a housing corporation is best. You pretty much rent at government controled rates (to a certain extent) and you can expect to be treated well. However, it's not easy to find a place through a housing corporation... Each city and each corporation has it's own rules of who gets what appartment... I don't know how it is in Delft and I'm not even sure how it is in The Hague right now (it often changes) but you can basically apply for any house they have on the market but the chance of actually getting it is not always very big... to put it lightly... I suggest you get in touch with them as soon as possible... I recommend http://www.vestia.nl/index_site.asp?nav2... If you get in touch with them I'm sure they will tell you what your options are and give you any information you need. Prices from 鈧?00/鈧?00 a month, but you should get something decent for that...

If you have more to spend, say in the 鈧?00 to 鈧?000 region, you can get a very nice appartment, definitely...
