Can any one suggest me to see the best places in one day trip to amsterdam..? |
Travel Info i ll stay in amsterdam from morning 9 am to evening 7 pm please suggest what are the best places and how can plan my day to cover all them, in that i want to see redlite district for sure in the evening 5 to 7 Travel Tips 1-Day Itinerary 1) Take a 45 minute canal tour (right from Centraal train station). This gives a great overall idea of the city. 2) Visit the the Anne Frank House Museum. You will want to purchase your tickets on-line to avoid any lines at all. They just started offering advanced ticket sales this year and people are very slow to pick up on it. You must specifiy a 1 hour time slot when you will arrive though. Like a reservation or a t-time. They sell a limited number of tickets for each day and time slot. Buy early for best choice. http://www.annefrank.org/content.asp?pid... 3) Walk towards Dam Square and get lunch. 4) Visit a brown cafe. Indulge yourself or chose to only buy a drink and observe. 4) Visit the Red Light District towards the early evening so you can check it out during dusk and getting into dark. That is the perfect Amsterdam day and you will not feel cheated at all. Of course you'll wish you had longer but at least you got a great feel for the city. As like anywhere in Europe, just watch for pickpockets and scams. Others try and spend an hour or two at least at the anne frank museum... if you pick the main things that you want to see, you should manage it ok. well from 9 to 7 gives you 10 hours to play with...on average I'll spend from 45 to 90 minutes at a cafe, so plan on visiting 10 hash bars that day, screw the landmarks, you will meet much more interesting people in the bars, who wants to see a Dyke anyway?, Oh I get it man, you posted this question for your wife...ummm....ummm, check out the hash bars man!!!(Oh, and screw the dykes!!) i think Van Gogh museum worth a visit. Skip Rijksmuseum.. most parts are under renovation now.... take a stroll along the canals, flower market n shopping streets.. Start at the Ann Frank museum. Get there early because the line gets long. Then go on a boat tour of the canals. Grab a snack and drink at a cafe and bring in with you to save time. If you're into art, the Van Gogh museum is nice. Otherwise, hit the sex museum. It's actually quite interesting, not just a bunch of porn. Then spend some time just strolling the streets looking at the architecture and such before heading to the red light district. Be careful no matter where you go. There are tons of people either selling drugs or trying to pick your pocket. They're not going to attack you though - no need to be completely paranoid. You're not going to see much in the Red Light District from 5-7. Remember, you're in Europe... the sun doesn't even go down enough to turn on your headlights until at least 10pm or so. Late afternoon in the RLD will be a waste. As for things to see, there are SEVERAL canal tours that are very cheap. You're on a boat going through the canals and seeing the main attractions, including the Anne Frank house. If you actually want to vist the sites, though, be aware that the attractions can be pretty spread out all over the city. All of the tourism agencies there have maps telling you where everything is and the maps are easy to follow. The people are very friendly if you get lost and need to ask directions. Everyone speaks English, so relax and just go with the flow. DO consider an evening visit to the RLD, though! |
