I'm going to Amsterdam....? |
Travel Info can anyone recommend some good bars and coffee shops in the dam please? dont give me chain stores like the bulldog and the grasshopper Travel Tips Are you especially interested in coffee shops? Maybe you should try Abraxas Coffeeshop, Jonge Roelensteeg 12-14, Amsterdam. It is in the centre. Also the Rokerij, one near the Amstel and one near the Central Station have good qualifications. Do not rely on me, try the Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory. this gives the opinion of more than one person. Below For bars you could look for the famous "brown bars". One is de smalleThe brown bar is a Dutch staple, an old-style drinking environment. It is very gezellig - meaning 'cosy' or 'home-like'. Basically you get beer, served typically in a weird glass, cheery red faced locals, canal-side seating, and not much more. I like cafe T'Smalle in a leafy bit of the Jordaan. But try the link below for more advice. Other bars? Look at amsterdamtourist.com Leave the chain stores aside, there are many nice places in Amsterdam. Have fun! Source(s): brown bars: http://www.seethru.co.uk/zine/guides/ams... bars: http://www.amsterdamtourist.com/... coffeeshops: http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/... Other Travel Tips No but will you please take me with you. I am extremely jealous. My advice is to just walk around and pop into the different shops. I really can't remember the names, but there were some good ones in and around Rembrandt Square. Also, don't forget to hit the Rijksmuseum. Preferrably after visiting a coffee shop. The big shops, like the bulldog and grasshopper, are way too touristy and always crazy busy. I like just exploring and popping into whatever shop is not busy and has many more locals. Sorry, I can't give you any specific names, but I hope this helps nonetheless. Enjoy your trip! Go to Hunters' bar on the Woormenstracht which is the first road you get to walking past the grasshopper from the station. turn left and it is just up there on your left. Chilled place that is cheaper than the touristy joints and serves beer as well as all the various puff. I only ever go to the Grasshopper because they have a decent steak restaurant on the 3rd floor. You can have a huge T bone for 鈧?0. For a laugh, why not try the Amsterdam casino - just budget yourself first and take ID. If you want a nice and different meal experience - do the Supper club. Have fun - I'm envious! coffeeshop the other side, easy times, the dolphin, coffeeshop johnny, the rokery, dampkring- have fun! personal experience |
