Places in Amsterdam and Boxtel to see? |
Travel Info hi,can u suggest me the places to c in amsterdam - i plan for a day tour on 26 nov 06 which is a sunday? further i plan for a day tour of boxtel, netherlands - places in boxtel also? bye john Travel Tips Boxtel?!? How did you come up with that? Boxtel is just a village with a church, some schools, a bakery and a few pubs. Nothing much to do there for a daytrip :-) You better go to Utrecht, a beautifull old city with an interesting history and a city center with nice shops. http://www.12utrecht.nl/ http://www.holland.com/utrechtprov/gb/... Or go to Den Haag, (The Hague) where our government seats and which is near the sea. http://www.denhaag.com/default.asp?id=do... http://www.scheveningen.nl/ If you like it nice and quiet and that's why you came up with the idea of going to Boxtel, then go to the wadden islands instead. They are very beautifull with cute villages nd beautifull nature. Or go to the province of Drente, where you can find old celtic burial grounds and also beautiful nature. http://www.drenthe.nl/loket/pdf/engels.p... http://www.oudeschool.com/noordenveld2.h... But don't go to Boxtel! In Amsterdam you can do many things. If you are into musea, go to the Rijksmuseum (with paintings from i.e. Rembrand) or to the van Gogh museum. You can go to the Anne Frank house, which is very impressive. If you are more into other stuff, there is Madam Tussaud, the Torture Museum, the Cannabis Museum, the Sexmuseum,... Take a look at the Red Ligt District (during the day very safe and unique in the world) Go to the big fleemarket Waterlooplein, or to the flowermarket, or take a boattrip through the canals. http://www.holland.com/amsterdam/gb/... Just don't go to Boxtel ;-) Others I don't know Boxtel. Amsterdam has many sights, and it depends on your interests. The Anne Frank house is quite moving (make a reservation), the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum have fantastic art, the Bulldog on the Leidseplein is a touristy place to buy hash and space cakes, the canal tour is nice if you just want to get an overview of the city. I agree on the tips on Amsterdam given above, but I am baffled about you wanting to go to Boxtel. Boxtel is a nice enough place for the people that live there (I have friends over there) but even they would agree that there is nothing there for tourists whatsoever. There are no special old buildings or any places of interest. The surroundings are not very special either. It's just a place where people live their lifes and raise their families... If you want to visit a typical village, there are many options better than Boxtel. I really don't see this. I live in the Netherlands. |
