Travel Tips
The Netherlands is often referred to by the name Holland. This is not terminologically precise, since the provinces of North and South Holland in the western Netherlands are only two of the country's twelve provinces. The name 'Holland' for the Netherlands is also used colloquially by the Dutch themselves, especially in relation to association football, where the national team is cheered with "Holland!". The term is also used for promotional purposes, because the name 'Holland' is better known worldwide. I hope this clarifies your doubts......
