What is at this location? |
Travel Info On maps of the netherlands in the north west there is what appears to be a bit of land than goes straight across the sea just below the west frisian islands... What is this? Is it just a patch of land or sand or is it some kind of road or bridge and is there anything interesting to see there? Travel Tips Its a dyke with the A7 road built on top of it. Its called the Afsluitdijk. ............and no there is nothing to see there, but is kind of cool to drive across it. Source(s): http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?c... Other Travel Tips On the east end of the Afsluitdijk is a museum run by volunteers. The place is called Cornwederzand. It is a bunker complex. It is one of the two places in Holland where the Dutch army stoped the nazis in WW2. If you are into history it is a great place to visit. It's a dyke which separates the Ijsselmeer from the North Sea; on top the A7/E22 motorway: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/afsluitdijk... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ijsselmeer... |
