What to do on december at amsterdam? |
Travel Info hey all, i plan to be at amsterdam on december for 4 (i guess between 9th and 16th), but i cant decide if i should vome on weekend or weekdays? plan to stay at stayokay vondelpark hostel, anyone know is it cool place? and i have little money, so any suggestions to do cool things with fixed budgets? free entrance museums, or free events at this time? i will be alone and dont know places for nite that is not dangerous for a 22years old female:P i like shooping but for only cool and interesting things sure not costly:) any suggestions? and how can i come to ams. from bruxelle ( thalys?) or got to paris from ams. safe and cheap? i asked a lot , sorry for this:( thank you, take care:) Travel Tips For the hostel you can check this site: http://www.tripadvisor.com/search?lc=en_... There you麓ll find opinions of people who have been there; it麓s quite accyrate. About what to do: you should visit Van Gogh Museum and Rijkmuseum; there麓s a combined ticket for both which is cheaper than buying separately. There麓s also the "I Amsterdam Card" for 24, 48 or 72 hours; with it, you麓ll have free access (and no queues) for a long list of museums and all public transport. Here you have the website: http://www.amsterdam.info/pass/... Go to Anne Frank麓s house and visit some of the churches; all of them are beautiful. Take a ride through the canals and rent a bike to go everywhere; it麓s cheap and convenient, as the bike lanes are really good and very respected. And something which is free: just walk around having the most beautiful sight of the city by discovering the most wonderful views turning evry bend of its streets. Others smoke! From Brussels you can catch any train that goes to Amsterdam. They run frequently. Thalys costs more than the others. You can also take the Thalys from Amsterdam to Paris. It might cost around $100 US. Both are safe. Thalys is a beautiful train. Check at Central Station to see if there are any deals. All the clerks speak fluent English. Personally, I found everywhere in central Amsterdam to be safe (and I'm a granny), especially the Red Light District as it is constantly patrolled by police, and cameras. Yes, there are some street junkies and you will probably be approached by some drug sellers, but just ignore them and keep walking. Tourists are everywhere, even in December, so chances are you will never be alone on a street. For cheap shopping check out the market at Waterlooplein or Albert Culp. I don't know about freebies, but just looking at the architecture is fun. http://www.audreybreed.com/travel/the_ne... |
