Amsterdam - weekend break recommendations and review? |
Travel Info Taking the missis to Amsterdam for a couple of days in Feb for short break, any sites we need to see, staying in Dam Square at the Swissotel, any views on that place also? Travel Tips http://www.hoteliers.nl/amsterdam/swisso... http://www.madametussauds.nl/dutch/index... http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/index.jsp... http://sexmuseumamsterdam.nl/index2.html... (cheapest museum i think in whole of amsterdam and fun lol) if you are there for a few days, you might want to check out a few other towns like DenHaag or Rotterdam, rotterdam is a very modern city with lots ofmuseums and lots of art, very nice town and it is so easy to take the train from amsterdam central to rotterdam central just check the site www.ns.nl there is a link for english and fill in where you want to go and it will give you the times and platforms and all. enjoy your stay and have loads of fun and yes, be carefull for them pickpocketers they are very good out here. Source(s): I am dutch Other Travel Tips its close to the red light!! good sites are madame tussades, anne franks house, the market!!!! definetly the market! huge! you can go on canal trips and have a glass off wine and relax. try getting a glance of the tulip fields as they are magnificent. but the toilets are weird!! seriously. all the hotels have a brochures of hot spots. enjoy i went for queens day and had a ball just about anywhere you might wander from there - try the Kandinsky coffee shop for the grass/hash menu - really detailed - gives information I've not really seen anywhere else. For other stuff I'm not too sure - museums are really good - but never went there myself although I lived there for 15 years. Barney's breakfast bar is the only place I went into (coz I worked there) but I heard the Grey Area is pretty good too. Try the red light area - but don't make eye contact or hold conversations - never buy drugs on the street - they're guaranteed to be crap lived there 15 years you will absolutely love it.. it will open your eyes how they live over there we are far to much behind the times over here.. just watch for the pickpocket's in the train stations they are probably the best in the world and always walk together not trying to scare you but it is a mad and wonderful place to go enjoy that's all i can say and the people are friendly.. go to as much of the museums as you can and the Heineken factory and the red light district isn't that far from dam square its a must it has some pretty cool bars good luck.... o and by the way you will come back saying x t c lol try the dope cakes there yummy lol |
