How do number pates work in Amsterdam? an Europe? |
Travel Info how can u tell if its a new car or old? in Amsterdam the country of relaxin. i will be movin their in 5yrs! - cant wait"! Travel Tips In Belgium it works like this... A person who has a license to drive can ask for a number plate... this plate stays his for as long as he has a car... when we change cars, we take the plate with us, the plate isn't linked to the car... that's to say, it is linked in a way but not in the same way as in the US where a plate stays with the car (if I understand it correctly...). This means that you can never tell the age of the car just by looking at its plate, it only tells you hold old the owner is... in Belgium the number plate is just a combination of characters (A,B,C,...) and numbers (1,2,3,...), there is no detail of the place where you live (as in Spain where the first the characters tells you where the driver lives.. MA stands for Madrid). The older drivers have plates with only 2 characters and 2 numbers, the younger drivers have plates with 3 characters and 3 numbers. I'm pretty sure that this is the same in the Netherlands... Others dont know if netherlands is the same but in the uk it works like this MA51 ZUA a typical registration the MA is the town where the vehical was first registered (manchester) the 51 is the year of registration. Every six months in there is a new plate an 0 plate and 5 plate. 0 is from march to sept and 5 from sept to march. the second number 1 is the year of manifacture so if the plate above was manifactured 2001 between sept 01 and march 02 MA place of first registration Manchester 5 registered between march and sept 1 of 2001 zua just random numbers MA51 ZUA PR07 OUR this would be a brand new car cause 07 means march to sept and in sept the new platewould be PR57 OUR hope this is not too confusing to follow thanks for the ten points honey.......oh this makes 12... |
