Need a place to take my fiance that's really romantic. In New Orleans. Locals have ideas?

Travel Info
We just got engaged and I moved from 3 hours away to be with him. It's been really stressful. We need something to take our mind off everything and just relax. He's a local, so I want to take him somewhere that doesn't fall under the general tourist trap status. HELP!

Travel Tips
If you're looking for a week-end getaway, there are several good French Quarter hotels that would be very romantic. Most have courtyards and old world charm. Go to: www.frenchquarterhotels.com to see some. I think the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon St. would be a good place, or the Place D' Arms right near Jackson Square.
If you want a romantic restaurant, try Muriels at Chartres and St. Ann,or Louis XVI on Bienville St.
For a nighttime outing, I would suggest going to Club 360, at the top of the New Orleans World Trade Center, which would give a gorgeous view of the city at night.
How about visiting City Park and going to the Carousel Gardens and strolling through the Botanical Gardens? That would be both relaxing and romantic. If it's running, take the miniature train ride through the park and visit the Train Garden there.
Take a nighttime carriage ride through the French Quarter.
Take a stroll through the Garden District and just admire the architecture and yards. Source(s): I'm a New Orleans tourguide
Other Travel Tips
I live in Baton Rouge.
If you two are into that type of thing you can go down to the river and just have a picnic.
It's the summer though so there shouldn't be too many tourists downtown.

Congratulations and good luck.
Go to Commanders Palace for dinner. I had my wedding dinner there...it's gorgeous and the food is terrific!
If you are talking about a place to stay I would recommend Maison DuBois Bed and Breakfast. They feature large luxury suites and a beautiful tropical courtyard and luxury saltwater pool.

But I think you are actually living there now and not visiting. In my opinion the best restaurant in NOLA is Bayona. Its located in the french quarter. Great food, great service and a wonderful courtyard.

Another great locals restaurant in the Marigny is Feelings. It has wonderful courtyard and neat bar area.

Our guests enjoy the intimate atmosphere of our picturesque courtyard as they listen to the sounds of soft music from our adjacent piano bar.

Step upstairs to dine on the balcony overlooking this distinctly New Orleans courtyard, or experience the charm of the main dining room as you savor your meal with a special New Orleans touch.

If you are looking to save a little money and be able to bring your own bottle of wine or beer Lola's is a great local place. The food is great , a small cafe over by the race track. As I mentioned it is BYOB and but they dont take reservations.

Cafe Giovanni on Decatur Street. Close to Canal St. and has $5 parking at the Marriot. Sweet, Fire, and Ice in Metairie. Close to the city, Copeland's style, good food! Ralph's on the Park on City Park Avenue. Mr. B's bistro is back; I've heard that's romantic with excellent food. Much of the French Quarter is touristy, so Uptown restaurants are probably a better idea. However, I mostly eat in the FQ so i dunno much about Uptown restaurants. Go to nola.com and look around the dining section. You'll find something. Good thing about most NO restaurants is that they have websites! Hope this helps! Good luck!!!!
