Do you think that having Hillary and Obama visit New Orleans will bring any tangible benefits to the city? |
Travel Info Do you think the two of them being in New Orleans was just a grandstanding photo-op? Travel Tips I can see where Derail is coming from regarding people who have experienced devistating misfortunes--they want someone who they think is going to help them. Along the same line is Bush and his 'fear-instilling' terrorists. People were afraid and he acted as the 'Big Protector' to go after the bad guys. (He went after the wrong country....but I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir). **Here's a bedtime story for his sheep** It was a dark and windy night in D.C. and all his sheep were sitting around the Oval Office on the floor while he read "My Pet Goat". All of a sudden the sheep heard a noise outside! They were startled! "What was that?" they asked. "Let me look" he said. He tip-toed to the front door, peeked thru the curtain, then opened the door and yelled "Git out of here you terrorists!" and slammed the door. He said "You are all safe. I scared the bad guy away". Ahhhhh, a room full of happy sheep. "You are the greatest! We are no longer scared!" So the sheep spent the remaining of his term thinking he was protecting them, when in reality, he knows the truth about that particular sound: it was only the wind blowing one of Jenna's beer cans down the street. I am a firm believer that he is merely playing on people's fears and convincing them that they are safe. But we can't forget the reason we were attacked to begin with: Our setting foot on Islam's holy land (Saudi Arabia) during Operation Desert Shield. Osama threatened HW Bush with a Jihad then. (again, preaching to the choir). To answer your question: While this may have just been a publicity stunt, they have to be more sincere than anyone else from the current administration. Others Let's all hope and pray they see the need and take charge...put egos aside! Politicians=photo-op. Democrats and Republicans they are all the same...I don't know why some people blame Bush for everything what happened there, your Mayor was Democrat, the majority of your reps are Democrat and even the freakin Governor is Democrat... Haven't you poor people suffered enough? There answer is actually a yes to both questions. New Orleans will definately benefit from the increased attention while both politicians (as all politicians do) will be grandstanding. It part of the game and if either of them benefit from visiting New Orleans (or they perceive they do) and either one is elected President that will mean most likely a greater benefit to the city. Good Luck!!! It can't hurt to have high profile people or politicians visit a needy area. It helps to bring public awareness. I watched a TV program about cult leaders. The one similarity I see with Hillary & Obama, and with cult leaders is, they do their best cult recruiting among people of misfortune. Sometimes when people sink to a mental low in their lives, it can leave them vulnerable to a personality that appears - on the outside - to be the authority of a promising future. When infact, they become merely the pawns for such personalities seeking power. I think this is why Hillary & Obama went to New Oreans. |
