Metarie...good area or not? |
Travel Info My wife Pricelined me a hotel there that had good reviews but I'm not familiar with the area. Should I anticipate a safe visit or should I make sure my life insurance is up to date? Travel Tips the area is very safe I have lived in the metairie area my entire life. Plenty enough good restaurants but no real tourist trap type places. plus its close enough to the city if you want to go there to eat or sight see or whatever. Source(s): born and raised in Metairie Other Travel Tips metarie is one of the better areas around new orleans. jefferson parish(where metarie is) has a much better handle on crime than orleans parish. John Are you planning on purchasing any crack cocaine during your visit? If so, get the insurance. If not, the odds on you being involved in crime in Metarie are slim to none. Still, You should already know if your insurance is up to date. Who pays your bills? I would be much more concerned about crime if I were visiting Philadelphia, Detroit, L.A., or many other large cities. Yes Metairie is a very good area. I've lived there all my life. I graduated from East Jefferson High School. Metairie is located right next to New Orleans. Every city has crime, but Jefferson Parrish has a lower crime rate than Orleans Parrish. Just think about it, If it looks like you are in the projects, then maybe you are in the projects and I would get out of that area. New Orleans has most of the projects but a lot of them were wiped out by Katrina. The 9th ward being one of them. Metairie and Kenner are your safest areas to stay but in every city, no matter what state, there will always be some jerk doing something that they shouldn't be doing. Lived in Metairie all my life, right by Mike Miley playground. |
