Travel Tips It's already a done deal - most of the rides are coming down at the end of this summer; The Cyclone and Nathan's are staying. Our mayor has big plans for Coney Island. Aside from the luxury condos, he wants to put up theatres and a tremendous shopping mall. I heard something about a double decker carousel. He wants to run a ferry from Manhattan into Sheepshead Bay - he knows not too many people are going to go there by subway - the ride takes about an hour. A ferry ride would be interesting. I've been in Coney Island at least five times a week for the past month - my father fell and broke his hip and is now in a rehab/nursing home learning how to do simple things like get in and out of bed by himself. A lot of homes have already been torn down - there are lots of empty lots. There is a lot of City Housing - there are projects for the poor and there are housing projects for senior citizens. Our mayor has never said what he plans to do with the people who are living in Coney Island now? What does the mayor plan to do with these people. He's going to uproot thousands of people and tear down buildings that are still very serviceable. There's got to be a better way. Others They can't do it, it's a national landmark declared it in 1981 |
