Jersey Shore Traffic/Method on Memorial Day Weekend? |
Travel Info Friends (w/2 kids: 2.5 & 7) leaving NYC to visit us @ Jersey Shore on Sat. AM the 26th. They live in Hell's Kitchen so easiest would be the bus from PA at 8AM (usually takes 50 min to exit 109). Will traffic be nuts so early in the morning on Memorial Day weekend? The other option is to take the train which is 2 hours from Penn to the nearest station (Bradley Beach). Which transportation method would you recommend? Travel Tips Traffic will be crazy all weekend long. Taking the train would be best since it doesn't have to stop for traffic. However, it will probably be crowded. If they are uncomfortable taking the train and want to drive or take the bus, leaving at 8 in the morning will not save them from traffic. Their best bet would be to leave before 5am the day of or after 9pm the day before. Source(s): I live at the shore, next to Bradley Beach (Ocean Grove, NJ) Other Travel Tips Update: They took the train and had no problems. As predicted, shore traffic was CRAZY. Thanks for the responses. Train, traffic will be nuts on the Parkway all weekend no matter what. You have got to be kidding! Traffic starts building up very early in the morning. It will take you HOURS to get to the shore. Definitely take the train! |
