Is there going to be a tsunami near new york in 2007-08? |
Travel Info Is there going to be a tsunami near new york in 2007-08? Travel Tips There are some Internet sites about tsunamis that are not too hard to read (two links below). Seems there could be other parts of the US considered more at risk, and overall, having preparation/warning systems in place that work is very important. I suggest you do some reading for yourself (would need to understand the triggers to answer the question about the predicted risk to NY area - and how well it can be predicted). The tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004 killed over 250,000 people (Wikipedia says about 300,000). I know there are tragedies on bigger scales (often human cause), but when you try to comprehend what happened in September 2001, that is hard enough, let alone trying to take in human loss of that number of people and the devastation. All those people who died and the people who lost their families and friends. Hope you find the information you are looking for. Source(s): http://www.tsunami.noaa.gov/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tsunami... Other Travel Tips Why would you think that? There is a slight chance of LaPalmas island collapsing into the ocean and causing a superwave. LaPalmas are near Spain and Africa. If collapses it will devestate the whole east coast of america and the islands. We don't tend to get tsunamis in New York. There could be some hurricanes, but generally by the time they get that far north, they're not too serious. How would I know? I'm no psychic. Check the global warming sites! |
