Best way to get to JFK Airport early morning? |
Travel Info Hello. I will be flying out of JFK to Hartsfield International late June. My flight is scheduled to leave at 8:35 a.m. on a Wednesday. Because of security restrictions and check-in time, I wanted to know which mode of travel is the best way to get there. Originally, I had thought about asking for a limo/taxicab service, however, I'm worried about hitting major traffic on the interstate if I leave early morning. I have expressed an interest in taking the Airtrain, but I have never ridden it before, and I don't know how often it runs, and if it is even reliable...not to mention I don't know if I want to carry my luggage on the LIRR. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to stay in an airport hotel the night before unless it can be helped. (I'm 45 minutes away from Penn Station). -Steve Travel Tips You don't say from WHERE you are starting. All my flights leave from JFK at about that time. I always take the A Train to AirTrain. I leave lower Manhattan about 2:00 hours before flight time & have always made it in plenty of time (I only carry on -- add about 30 min for checking luggage).teleportation.... but taxi is always good Q10 bus from Kew Gardens Metro station. Takes about 30 mins. Subway, definetly the Subway. Its really easy to get around NYC using public transportation. Since your flight is going to be 8:35, start riding the Subways around 6AM. It should not be that crowded at that time. Now for the 10 points I deserve: When in New York City. Go to the club BBKing. You wont regret it! Take the subway to the Airtrain. It's very reliable (they just built it), and runs very often. It has to, since it's made for people who have to be at JFK as soon as possible. And it's made so that you can carry all your luggage easily onto it. And getting from the subway to the Airtrain is easy also, there are elevators & escalators. The Airtrain is a good way to avoid traffic & get to JFK on time. Good luck. Almost all taxi's have set prices to all 3 major airports, but if you want more of a guarantee that you will be picked up and make it on time call a car service, they aren't much more then taxi's and will pick you up at or close to your requested time and location. |
