What are the bad areas that i would want to avoid staying at in NYC? |
Travel Info im going there for vacation in july, i live in NY and have never been there. im thinking about staying in the continental hotel, its in the upper west side, on 95th street near broadway. is this a good area? Travel Tips Yes, that is an excellent area. I live in NYC and my parents came to visit me recently from the Midwest. They stayed on 96th and Broadway and absolutely loved the neighborhood. Very convenient to the train; many 24 hour restaurants; very quiet and safe. I'd highly recommend the area! Others Yes it is good there, you should stay south of 100th st and north of 9th ave and you should be fine. I hope you get to see the central park zoo, Metropolitan museum and/or Museum of modern art, & Lincoln Center The location is extremely convenient, being right by the #1 IRT subway. It is fairly safe, altho I would recommend staying away from Riverside Park after dark, and also Central Park. Above 110 Street you are in Morningside Heights, the neighborhood of Columbia, Barnard, Julliard, and Union Theological Seminary You'll find there are a number of excellent Chinese and other restaurants on Broadway, particularly to your south. Stay aways: west side north of 125 Street to 158, East side north of 103 Street. Lower East side Others are outside Manhattan, like South Bronx, Brownsville and East New York in Brooklyn. |
