How expensive is shopping for the average person in New York City and Washington? |
Travel Info I'm a teengaer going there for a holiday, and wants to set her budget for shopping, for clothes, bags etc. Travel Tips Clothes arent that much, like, in NYC they run to $14 -$18 at the most (if looking for the white "I <3 NY" shirt, $5 max. But bags, thats a different story, I went to Virgin Records and they had little purses and bags, I couldnt believe what the prices were! They were running from $60 - about $150 just for a little bag, I couldnt believe it, but thats how much a bag costs nowadays. Also, I believe Washington has 7% Sales Tax and New York has around 8%. Others Teenagers don't set budgets and other things characteristic of highly organized people. They use credit cards and defer their financial responsibilities for a later time, or perhaps, burden their immediate family members with their subsequent financial woes in search of bailout. Are you sure you're a teenager? I think the answer to your question would depend on from where you are visiting. If you live in Port au Prince, Haiti, you are going to find New York somewhat expensive. If, however, you are a Swedish princess, it's going to be quite a bargain! in NYC, it depends what your tastes are, and which stores you shop at, and how many items you plan on buying. On the inexpensive end, you could prolly get a complete outfit plus a bag and pair of cheap shoes at around $150. I would budget an extra bit in case you see something you really like and would regret if you didn't get it so, around $250....but this is assuming you're not into designer labels......then i would suggest a lot more!!!! |
