Travel Info I'm going to New York where should I go.? Travel Tips Explore the East and West Villages, Soho, Tribeca, and Central Park and the museums around its edges, The Met, Natural History Museum, the Empire State Building. Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and walk south across the riverfront park in Brooklyn Heights. Find a restaurant on Montague St. Take a subway back, especially one that goes over the Manhattan bridge. If I had to pick my favorite street it would be 9th street in Manhattan, all the way across from river to river. The upper west side is nice for restaurants and shops, like on Broadway. Also I like Broadway between 18th St. and Canal St. for shopping and strolling. Washington Square Park is a good place to start. Bleecker Street is a good one to walk. Also check out the old part in the West village, like WSW of Washington square between Christopher Street and Houston around Seventh Ave. You might like a circle line boat tour, or take the Staten Island ferry for cheap. Don't bother with Statue of Liberty. Hours in line, crowds, and it's hot inside in the summer. Just walk around battery Park and look at it from there or from the ferry. Rent a bike if you want to see a lot and get around Manhattan quickly. Make sure it's insured for theft with the rental co. Others check out Rochester, it never gets the attention it deserves. What do you like... touristy.... local hangouts.....shopping.....rest... Tell more about yourself. I've been twice to NYC and the main attractions to see are the Empire State building, Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral, The Harbor Cruise to the Statue of Liberty, The United Nations, Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, 5th Avenue, Little Italy, China Town, Soho, Flat Iron building, Madame Toussouds Wax Museum, Grand Central Station, The Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island Theme Park ( I think this was the first theme park in the US?) They are known for Nathan's Famous Hotdogs. Dont forget to see a Broadway show! When I was there 3 years ago I saw "Rent." There are plenty of city tours if you don't want to do too much walking, but walking is the best part. Have a safe trip! check out Chinatown ;D times square(in times square got to the wax musuem...hershey store, m&m store etc.)....little italy.....soho...china town.....rockefeller center |
