Travel Info I am treating my niece to a day trip to New York on Saturday to see Color Purple. What else should we do? Travel Tips Depends on your mode of transportation.... Hop a subway and go just about ANYWHERE.. One place for SURE if you've never been there that your niece would enjoy is the observation deck of the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING if it is a nice blue-sky day...(not worth the trip if it's cloudy--you won't SEE anything)....or go to Hayden Planatarium---it is all about the universe and solar system and is really a FANTASTIC place to go if your niece likes that sort of thing---it's quite nice... OR, take a horse and buggy ride around central park like others have suggested... OR, go on the Staten Island Ferry out to the Statue of Liberty---ferry leaves from Battery Park every 20 minutes or so (I believe).... Others If it's a nice day go to Central Park -- Take a horse and buggy ride around the park. Staten Island ferry trip :) It's free!!! If you're going to be uptown for the show ....slip over to So Ho for some shopping and get back uptown in time for a bite to eat at the Russian Tea Room. SHOPPING!! If she's of the right age (7-13 years old) take her to the American Girl Place. It's a large store that also has a show and a tea room. Tell her to take her doll if she has one. |
