Rice to riches? |
Travel Info I'll be visiting NYC in a couple weeks. I'd like to try a place called Rice to Riches. Anyone been? Like it? Any other little place I should check out that I can't really get anywhere else? (Like Serendipity, Dillon's, Magnolia's) Travel Tips Try Custard Beach in the World Financial Center - the most delicious soft ice cream - they change flavors daily - creme brulee, orange creamsicle, rose petal, peach cobbler. Also try Junior's cheesecake - Junior's is in downtown Brooklyn, right over the bridge, but there is a Junior's in Grand Central and one in Times Square. You can never get a sandwich like you'd get at Katz' - the best pastrami and corned beef in the world! Of course you have to have New York pizza. Others I have a transportation business in NYC and I take several clients there they like it.....it's in soho on spring st Chinatown? Zabar's. I've never tried it myself but i know alot of people who love it. It's very popular, and i guess if u like rice pudding it would be a great place to go.. I've been to Rice to Riches a couple of times. I'm not a HUGE fan of rice pudding but every often I crave a little bit of the mushy stuff. They have a lot of interesting flavors you can choose from - a lot of which you'd never associate rice pudding with but it's something worth trying. I don't think it's a NYC highlight so I'd say if you have extra time, try it out...if not, no loss. On the otherhand, Serendipity is a well-known NYC hotspot so you should try to check that out. The trouble is, no reservations so get there early...and prepare to wait. If anything, go there for dessert cause they have excellent soda fountain-type desserts. Dylans is no big deal but it's close to Serendipity so you could just go in for a quick peek but it's just a candy store. I wish I liked rice pudding, but there rice pudding looks soooo good and they have a great selection of flavors! Within walking distance from Rice to Riches is Little Italy and Chinatown to the south and Soho to the west. If you're there on the weekend during the summer, there is usually a street festival going on in Little Italy. If you need a knockoff purse, Chinatown is the place to go. For other shopping as well as some galleries, Soho is your place. Rice pudding...who cares about rice pudding...what about bread pudding???now that would be a great place...and if you find one with outstanding bread pudding you better share it with you-know-who...
