Living in Canarsie Brooklyn?

My cousin that lived in Canarsie Brooklyn for over 40 years told me its a nice place to live. Can other people please give me their opinions and necessary information about that area, the houses, the people, etc.

I hear it's ok. It's way the **** out though in Brooklyn. I think it's the last stop on the L train. Never been there.

I here you will need a car though.

Canarsie is proably not the safest area in Brooklyn. The trouble is that to get to the city from there you would take the "L" subway line. The "L" travels through the most dangerous parts of Brooklyn--the highest crime areas. So on your way to and from the city you would traveling through high crime areas with people getting on and off the train. God forbid you fall asleep on the "L"!!

I had a similliar situation when I lived in Brooklyn. I move to Astoria in Queens to shorten my commute and also to avoid trouble on the train. I am a few stops from mid town Manhattan where I work and the area is much safer.
Forty years ago it was extremely safe, now it really isn't.
