NYC Subway, Redline #1? |
Travel Info I need to take this subway from Penn Station to Columbia University at 116 st., but I heard something about express lines and local lines. Does that apply to the Redline, and if so, will the express line stop at this station? Thank you! Travel Tips We describe the different trains by number, not by color - most people won't know what you mean by the Red Line. At Penn Station, take the Number 1 train directly to 116th Street. You also can take the 2 or 3 at Penn Station, but those are express trains and don't stop at 116th Street and Broadway - you have to transfer to the Number 1 at 96th Street. Others Do you think that My living in Washougal sorta makes youR question not make sense? I believe if you find a stream and follow it, you will find a civilization? Good Luck! {;O) Friend2Friend, J My silly sense of humor? http://mta.info/nyct/service/oneline.htm... the 1 stops at 116th/columbia university-broadway as far as i know, there is no express for the 1. the 2 & 3 stop at 116th & lenox. (both which you can catch at penn station) if you don't mind walking. Your best bet is to take the red line number 1 train. The express trains (the 2 and 3 trains) don't stop at the 116th Columbia stop - you'll end up several avenues east. Just hop on the 1 train and you'll be at 116th St in 20 or 30 minutes. www.cheaptricksnyc.com The 1 is local. It's called the 1 train, 2 train or 3 train not redline. And like the person above me said taking either the 2 or 3 train to 96th Street and transfer to the 1 train there might be faster since the 1 is a local train and makes all stops. But on the same token if you don't mind a few more minutes just get on the 1 train at Penn Station and take it to 116th Street. Just thought of something as I was running by this again: The 1 train is the only train that even goes to 116th Street. The 2 and 3 trains curve towards Central Park between 96th and 103rd. |
