What is the best way to get down to Saint Marks Place from 30th and Madison?

Travel Info
I am meeting a buddy at the Holiday Cocktail Lounge, just west of first ave and Saint Marks Pl. (75 Saint Marks Pl).

Travel Tips
You can take the train to Astor Place as per the directions above
Today, I would go by bus - it's a short ride and the subway platform is probably an inferno - Take the downtown M1 at Park Avenue South and 30th Street, get off on East 8th and Lafayette - turn left on Astor Place and then turn right on St Marks.

OR walk - it's less than a mile and a half - Walk down Park Avenue South to Union Square East, turn right on Fourth Avenue, left on 8th Street, turn left at Astor Place and go right to St Marks.

walk over to park ave and 28 st take the subway south to astor place then walk east to first ave. or just walk down to st marks place, you will really need a nice cool drink if you walk :)
The N or R to 8th Street. You could get the N or R either at 32nd Street and 6th, or 28th and 6th. Once you are at 8th Street walk east past Cooper Union and Astor Place. You'll see Saint Marks Place, it's a fairly big street running east to west.
the 6 train to be precise. from 28 and park to astor place.
