Travel Tips
Check out the River to River festival, there are live music and free museum events almost every night downtown at different venues. There's also free Shakespeare in Central Park but you have to go early for tickets. The weather is typically pretty hot and humid, with occasional thunderstorms. If it gets too hot you can always duck into a museum or store for a blast of a/c.

I would recommend Gray's Papaya on 72nd Street and Broadway for the best cheap hot dogs. If you want to go more upscale, try F&B's on 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenue.

main answer go 2 the mall and shop thats the best thing 2 do in that time..hot dog places dont know any but y go to 1 when u can go somewhere better like a resturant...and the weather well its goona b hot ...especially cause of global warming
You could get in line for Live with Regis and Kelly Tickets then up near Carneige Hall is a Diner that has great food Also there is Central Park and ride the Metro to places. And also go and see where Ground Zero was.
It's really hot.
Umm, call me a geek, but the "cool" things you could do is go to museums: The Museum of Natural History, The Wax Museum, go see some plays, go to the Coney Island Amusement Park [considering they'll be tearing it down soon]
Go the the Body Exhibit [link: http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/... ]
It's a cool place where you can look at actual body parts, and it's nothing nasty, I'd freak out, but I didn't.
There's also the Police Academy a few blocks down from the Exhibit it's kinda cool, too.
Ummm..what else?
Go to Union Square, they have cool food fairs and general fairs every Saturday.
Just go to a lot of places.
And if you get nauseous easily, don't go to up on the Empire State Building. I went up there and I got really sick.

Also, I have something better than Shakespeare in a park.
I'm going to see Shakespear in A PARKING LOT.
It's FREE and its website is here: http://www.drillingcompany.org/shakespea...

The only thing is if you want to have a seat you have to get there kind of early.

I hope I helped.
Don't know where exactly in New York you are staying, but if you like scary look up Potters Ville, it is crazy at night!
