Travel Info Does anyone know specifically how to get from Hempstead, NY (in LI) to LaGuardia using public transportation? Travel Tips Easy : Get a MetroCard at LGA good for transit on subways & buses including LI Bus $2.00 one ride w/1 transfer $7.00 for all day Take the Q-33 to 74 st/Broadway Take the 7 train 2 stops to 61st Woodside go downstairs & catch the Long Island Rail Road to Hempstead You want to be on the same platform as the ticket office .Buy a ticket at the office or use the vending machines-do not buy it on the train ! Edit: I confess I mis-read the question The were a couple of reasons for my route choice I thought that a person carrying an unknown quantity of luggage would need to get to the LIRR w/ the fewest # of stops Which is why despite the $2.25 higher fare from Woodside I chose #7 to Woodside & not the E to Jamaica . The Bus from Jamaica toHempstead was never an option bc it takes forever and is not compatable w/ traveling w/ luggage. LIRR - Hempstead Woodside- #7 train two stops to 74st Q33 -LGA is possible in under 50 minutes and because almost all of it is via LIRR it's an easy trip. Others The person above me actually reversed the directions that you asked for. This is from the Hempstead LIRR Station. At Horton Ave & Concord Street Board the N04/Jamacia Bus (Long Island Bus). Get off at Archer Ave & Parsons Blvd. This is Jamaica Center/Parsons/Archer Ave Subway Station. Hop on the E towards Manhattan. (you can only go one way here since this is the Queens end of the line) Get off the E at the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue Station. Hop on the Q33/Laguardia Airport bus to the LGA Central Terminal. If none of the connections is late or you miss one, the trip should take about an hour and 20 minutes give or take a few due to traffic. http://www.trips123.com/trip_planner/res... |
