Vacation to NYC?

Ok so, my parents and I want to take a vaca to new york city in the summer of 2008. We're planning to go see "Jersey Boys" on Broadway as a major activity while we're there. Can anyone tell me what else there is to do?? And, does anyone know any good sites that offer plane tickets (not toooo expensive) and/or hotel packages? I think we're planning to spend 3-4 days there. Is that a good amount of time? Please help!! I don't know where to start! haha!

I went last month. I checked all the online travel deal sites and found travelocity.com to have the best rates on air/hotel packages, IF you book more than a week in advance. I found a VERY reasonable price on air and hotel for two at a four star hotel, something that amazed me as I'm a starving grad student who makes pennies. I check it later, just to see how the price varied the closer I got and it had more than trippled.

We were only there 3 days BUT we did go to a concert in central park and to Coney Island. Both were fun and cheap.

The concert was free, and there were people of all ages. Coney Island was neat, although faded and past it's prime. I wanted to see it because I heard that next year it might be renovated into a big Las Vegas style resort with expensive condos, so this might be the last time to see it as a sort of piece of American history.

We decided NOT to go see the Empire State Building because it costs a freaking fortune.
Others

Go see some skyscrapers and the statue of liberty, eat pizza, etc.

boooooooooooooooo lol.. im not from new york but everyone would tell u to see the statue of liberty or walk in one of the many huge buildings they have. Or u can walk thru central park which i dont have a clue how that can be fun maybe bcuz im spoiled in that cali life. we have real parks u can walk in but u might get chased by wild deers and bears. or u can go horseback riding in our parks or even our beach areas.. lol have fun lookin at that overdramatic acting on broadway :P
3-4 days is not enough there are so much things to do here

go on the ocean line or the gray line iono either i always see the around the city they are tour buses that go up and down the streets of manhattan

wander the streets of times sq you can spend hours there
even i havent been to all the stores in times sq there is the marriot, toys r us [which is huge] and tons of other things if you watch trl you know what i mean theres many stores and many ppl there

GO SHOPPING ive never heard of jersey boys hmm how about the color purple
